A Vaping Tragedy Averted

December 7, 2014

Today, much to my surprise and joy, the Dr. Farsalinos crowdfunded campaign/study titled “Temperature of evaporation, liquid consumption and vapor analysis in realistic conditions” and available for your review at the Indiegogo web site obtained it’s funding goal of $72,000.00 and will likely continue to exceed this goal. Currently, total contributions are $72,483.00 (101%) via 740 funders (Editorial Notes: Final amount noted below). I was extremely critical and outspoken in my last post on this study titled A Vaping Tragedy. When I penned that post a few days ago (12/1/14), total contribution’s were a pathetic  $17,129.00 via a paltry 260 contributors. I stand by my words written at the time but I have a few reflections for your consideration:

– Thank you! Regardless of the amount you contributed. I can not explain why the contributions skyrocketed in a few short days. Perhaps, the viral nature of the campaign took longer to resonate with the “Professionals” and “Consumers’ or Vendors/Professionals received numerous “consumer” request to contribute. Whatever the reason or the convergence of the stars, my faith is partially restored in a segment of the “leadership” faction of the Vaping community and “consumers”.

– What makes this not only a remarkable achievement but also a significant event is the total lack of public support and contributions from every single US based grass roots Vaping Organization and Vaping Trade Association. Some of your work on behalf of the Vaping community is very good, however Dr. F achieved his goal without your support. With your support, total contributions would have significantly exceed the goal and we have evidence of this via his previous Campaign/study. You and each of your web sites were silent! I’m the first to admit that contributions may have been made using other names/identities but this “non support” is not only deplorable but serves to reinforce my belief that none of these US organizations have genuine traction via large numbers (five figures) of members in the Vaping community. Not to mention a lack of genuine concern for the Vaping community and public health. I would respectfully suggest that the leadership of these organizations spend some time looking in the mirror. Your not as powerful as you think you are. You have a lot to learn about the Vaping community. Open your eyes and hearts to honest independent advice on how to conduct yourselves. Please stop the agenda driven bloviating, politics, and concern for your own ego! Having made these controversial statements, if you are a US based grass roots Vaping Organization or Vaping Trade Association and my facts are inaccurate with respect to your public support, encouragement, and contributions, please don’t hesitate to contact me with proof and I’m happy to edit this post.

Perhaps I’m a “broken record” but the Campaign does not close until December 07, 2014 (11:59pm PT). You still have time to contribute and or encourage others to help. Please visit the Indiegogo web site or pass the link along to anyone on the face of the planet.

🙂

Editorial Note: On 12/12/14 Dr. F advised that two new contributions (From SMOK and ECITA (Electronic Cigarette Industry Trade Association of the UK) were received after this Campaign closed. The final total net contributions (after all costs/fees) is $73,121.00.
