Outstanding Comment For FDA Vaping Regulations

September 9, 2014

I forgot about the initial attempt by the FDA to regulate Vaping in 2009. This was their first failed effort to obliterate Vaping from the planet. Full of lies, half truths, hidden agendas, and other disgusting behavior. They created confusion in the marketplace, delayed the adoption of Vaping by many smokers, and even today the uninformed still quote from these specious FDA findings. The FDA has never clarified or retracted their multiple lies from 2009. Fortunately, ECF member pamdis recently posted a link to an outstanding FDA comment about the 2009 actions. The approach is both unique and fact filled. A few extract’s for your reading pleasure:

“FDA’s is directly responsible for my choice to continue smoking tobacco cigarettes for 2 years longer than I would have if FDA had been more forthcoming with scientific reporting on the difference between “tobacco products’ and ‘Nicotine-only’ products. FDA characterized e-cigarettes, through its 2009 report and subsequent press releases, as being just as bad as traditional ‘Tobacco Products’. As such, I chose to continue to smoke tobacco cigarettes, because of the confusion FDA caused in my understanding of e-cigarettes and their affect on my health.”

“Once I began my own research, I became aware of the faults in the FDA study and quite frankly, I am appalled that the agency has let the media propagate its findings without correction for the last 5 years.”

“FDA must be accountable for its own propagation of confused understanding of e-cigarettes so that ex-smokers like myself, do not make the poor choice to keep smoking rather than switch to a safer alternative. To obfuscate science in order to muddle the publics knowledge of e-cigarettes is an assault on public health itself.”

Their is something so very very special when an individual documents how the deplorable actions of the FDA in 2009 directly effected she/he. I will admit to a certain amount of “almost tearing up” as I worked my way through this comment. I kept asking myself how I would feel if I had endured the same set of circumstances as the comment author. Full of juicy details and worth your time to read.
